How Ebola Tracker handles information about the people who use it.

Last updated 8 Oct 2026

In short

  • You can use this site without an account. We never ask for your name, phone number or health information.
  • We do not sell data, show adverts or track you across other websites.
  • Like every website, our server and our security provider (Cloudflare) see technical details such as your IP address, and keep them only briefly.
  • Google Analytics, if used, only starts after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner.

Who we are

Ebola Tracker is run by African Script Global Solutions Ltd, Pension Towers, Loita Street, Nairobi, Kenya. We are responsible for the personal data handled by this website. Contact: [email protected].

What we collect when you visit

Our web server and Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site, receive technical information with each request: your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. We use it only to keep the site running and secure, for example to block attacks, and not to identify you.

Cookies and browser storage

The public site sets no cookies of its own. It remembers a few preferences, such as dark mode, whether you have seen the globe introduction and your cookie choice, in your own browser's storage. This never leaves your device. Your language choice is part of the web address.

Google Analytics

We may use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful, for example how many people open a country dashboard. It only runs after you agree. It then sets cookies in your browser and sends information about your visit to Google, which may process it outside Kenya. We have switched off Google's advertising features and do not combine this data with anything else.

Google Analytics is in use on this site, only with your consent.

Our review team

People who sign in to review figures give us a work email address and a password (stored only in scrambled form), and use a two-step verification code. We record sign-in attempts and every change they make, so that published figures can always be traced back to a person.

Who we share data with

Only the service providers that run the site: our hosting provider, Cloudflare (security and delivery) and, if you accept analytics, Google. We never sell or rent personal data, and would disclose it only if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

Web server logs are deleted automatically after about two weeks, application logs after about eight weeks and sign-in attempt records after 30 days. Database backups are kept for 14 days. Records of changes made by the review team are kept for as long as the figures they relate to are published.

Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to its use, and withdraw your consent to analytics at any time.

To make a request, email [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner: www.odpc.go.ke.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
